Bennet & Bennet, PLLC is proud to salute rural communities across the country today, August 1, 2013 by celebrating Rural America Appreciation Day (RAAD). The purpose of RAAD is to make a positive impact on rural communities across the nation.
In 2003, Bennet & Bennet founded RAAD as a tribute to our rural communications clients, and donated one day of revenues, and individual contributions from our staff, to support the Foundation for Rural Education and Development’s (FRED’s) Ethyl Grant program. RAAD is now an annual tradition with FRED the recipient of RAAD’s Annual fundraiser.
“The goal is to support our clients and their efforts to sustain the Nation’s rural communities and ensure they remain vibrant places to live and work,” stated Carri Bennet, managing principal of Bennet & Bennet. “Through the Ethyl Grant program, FRED supports community projects across the country that accomplishes this goal,” Bennet continued. In 2012, seven community development projects received funding. These grants helped fund upgrades to community pools and playgrounds, town beautification efforts, placement of tablets and other technology into schools, literacy activities and city youth sports programs.
“Over the years, FRED has been able to assist a number of communities in rural America sustain and revitalize critical programs and facilities, and introduce new programs and infrastructure,” commented Melissa Korzuch, FRED’s executive director.
