The FCC adopted a Notice of Inquiry (NOI) seeking comment on strengthening the reliability and resiliency of America’s communications networks, particularly in light of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The NOI invited comment on four specific areas of concern including

1. current efforts by industry to ensure continuity of communications service during major disasters;
2. existing reliability and resiliency standards for broadband communications networks;
3. the FCC’s role in promoting the reliability, resiliency and continuity of communications services; and
4. the FCC’s legal authority to act to ensure the reliability, resiliency and continuity of communications services.

Comments on the NOI were due by July 7th and reply comments are due by September 1, 2011. Please contact RTG’s General Council, Carri Bennet, if you would like to file reply comments.
