OMA Demo Day showcases next-generation mobile solutions

FORT MYERS, FL—Feb. 19, 2013—Interop Technologies, a provider of core wireless solutions for advanced messaging, over-the-air handset management, and connectivity gateways, today announced that it will demonstrate its Rich Communication Services (RCS) solution during Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Demo Day on Wednesday, February 27, during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Interop is one of 10 companies that will showcase technology leveraging standardized OMA service enablers that can be used to develop interoperable mobile services.

The Interop RCS solution uses specifications facilitated by the OMA to provide capabilities such as one-to-one and group messaging as well as interworking between RCS and legacy messaging services. In addition, Interop’s technology uses OMA specifications for its XML document management server (XDMS) and presence server to store service capability information and social presence data, such as the availability and location of contacts, and display it in real time to RCS users.

Because the Interop solution enables mobile network operators to offer RCS without a costly and complex IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) core, operators can compete with popular “over-the-top” (OTT) services without expensive changes to their current network. Interop’s cloud-based technology includes multiple RCS version 5 features, making it the most advanced RCS solution available today.
