RWA Announces FY2021 Officer and Board Election Results

Washington, D.C. – The Rural Wireless Association (RWA) announces the results of its Board of Directors elections and selection of its FY 2021 Board Officers. Elections were held during RWA’s Virtual Annual Meeting on September 22, 2020.

Jake Baldwin of Cross Wireless in Oklahoma was confirmed for a second term and the following four members were newly elected to the Board for a three year term: Chris Townson of DTC Communications in Tennessee; Mike Laskowsky of United Wireless in Kansas; Kelley Dunne of Novation in Virginia; and George Woodward of Trilogy headquartered in Colorado.

RWA President and CEO Bert Potts, CEO of Utah-based Strata Networks, completed two three-year terms of service on the Board of Directors. Board members are pleased that Mr. Potts will continue to participate on RWA’s Board of Directors in an ex officio advisory capacity.

The FY2021 Board Officers were selected at the Board’s first FY2021 meeting held today.  The new Officers are President, Jana Wallace, PTCI; Vice President, John Nettles, Pine Belt Wireless; Secretary, Jake Baldwin, Bravado; Treasurer, Mike Higgins, West Central Wireless.

“Despite the COVID pandemic, RWA has doubled down on its advocacy efforts to ensure that its members have access to spectrum, fair universal service rules to continue to provide 3G and 4G services with an eye toward deployment of 5G, and roaming agreements so that rural customers can access the networks of the Big 3 carriers when leaving home.  As a member-driven association, we will continue our advocacy efforts during the pandemic to make sure we are heard in our Nation’s Capital through virtual platforms that reach the FCC, Congress and the Administration.  While we are made up of small companies, when we speak together for rural America, unclouded by large carriers’ profit-driven agendas, we are mighty!  By strengthening rural America, we strengthen all of America”, stated RWA’s new President, Jana Wallace.
