RWA Commends FCC on Reimbursement Program Launch

The FCC has released a Public Notice adopting final procedures for its Reimbursement Program to secure our Nation’s networks.  The Rural Wireless Association commends the FCC on its work on implementing the $1.9 billion Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Reimbursement Program. The FCC has struck a fair balance to create a process that will distribute the funding to assist rural carriers with the removal of unsecure network equipment and services and recognized the time and effort it will take for carriers to be successful. RWA will continue to work with the FCC to weigh in on clarifications and improvements and appreciates the FCC in its outreach. The FCC plans to open the filing window for estimated costs associated with the “Rip and Replace” on October 29, 2021.   RWA will host a webinar on September 28 at noon Eastern in which the FCC will discuss and explain aspects of the Reimbursement Program as part of its ongoing outreach to impacted rural carriers.
