RWA Weighs In on Cellular Harmonization

RWA continues to lobby the FCC to ensure a smooth transition of the 800 MHz Cellular service to geographic based licensing.  In its comments, which were filed this week, RWA supports the FCC’s proposal to adopt a power spectral density (PSD) model for calculating effective radiated power (ERP) limits in the Cellular service as well as increasing the power limits when the limits are calculated using the PSD model.

RWA also supports a new definition of permanent discontinuance of Cellular service as a 12-month period during which the licensee does not provide service to at least one subscriber (or roamer) and supports the prior coordination of applications for new Cellular service and CGSA expansions.
