The Federal Communications Commission has announced the first three wireless companies authorized to receive Mobility Fund Phase I support in Auction 901. Leaco Rural Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (LEACO), Pinpoint Wireless, Inc. (Pinpoint) and NEP Cellcorp, Inc. (NEP) have all received authorization by the FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau and Wireline Competition Bureau (Bureaus) to receive disbursements from the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) so that they may provide advanced mobile voice and broadband services (3G or 4G) in areas where such services are currently unavailable. All three companies were advised throughout the process by Bennet & Bennet, PLLC.
Of the 795 winning bids and associated winning bidders in Auction 901, the Bureaus have reviewed the long-form application information, including the letter of credit and Bankruptcy Code opinion letter, only for LEACO, Pinpoint and NEP.
NEP is authorized to receive up to $2,059,746.29 to provide 4G services in Susquehanna and Wayne, Pennsylvania. LEACO is authorized to receive up to $2,245,050.34 to provide 3G services in Chaves, Eddy and Lea, New Mexico. Pinpoint is authorized to receive up to $194,978.97 to provide 3G services in Furnas and Red Willow, Nebraska.
