Rural Wireless Group Anxious to Visit with Future Chairman and His Staff
The Rural Telecommunications Group, Inc. (RTG – The Rural Wireless Advocate) applauds the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, its leadership, and its staff for speedily conducting a hearing on Tom Wheeler’s nomination to the position of Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission). The Committee Members’ thoughtful questions about the future of the wireless industry in America and the impact that current and future FCC policies have on Rural America is greatly appreciated. RTG also wishes Mr. Wheeler a speedy confirmation process and looks forward to sitting down with the future Chairman and his staff in the coming weeks.
“Tom is an industry veteran and he brings a lifetime of knowledge to the head of the table” said Carri Bennet, RTG’s General Counsel. “As Tom knows well, the wireless industry is already a major economic driver in this country. The presence and preservation of wireless competition in rural America is vital for the health of not just rural communities, but the country as a whole.” She added, “We are excited for Tom to get the full blessing of the Senate so that RTG can continue its dialogue with the FCC on keeping those living, working and traveling in rural America connected with the rest of the world through advanced wireless technology.”
