RWA filed reply comments today in response to the FCC’s Public Notice requesting comments on the “Roadmap for Improving E911 Location Accuracy.” The Roadmap was filed by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO), the National Emergency Number Association (NENA), AT&T Mobility, Sprint, T-Mobile USA, and Verizon (Signatories). RWA’s reply comments assert that the perspective of rural carriers is not represented in the Roadmap, and supports the FCC position that new E911 indoor location accuracy requirements should not be imposed on small wireless carriers before global standards are adopted. The reply comments detail the technical and financial obstacles rural carriers face in delivering more accurate indoor E911 location information.
