RWA Responds to Competitive Bidding Proposal

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 25, 2015

The statement below may be attributed to Erin P. Fitzgerald, RWA’s Assistant Regulatory Counsel.

The Rural Wireless Association, Inc. (“RWA”) is pleased that the proposed Competitive Bidding rules include a bidding credit specifically for smaller providers that serve rural areas.  A rural provider bidding credit will increase auction competition, and also help to ensure that small and rural service providers, including RWA’s members, are able to continue providing critical spectrum-based services to consumers and communities in rural America. RWA looks forward to reviewing additional details from the Chairman’s proposal, and working with FCC Commissioners and staff as this proceeding moves forward.

About RWA – Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, RWA – the Rural Wireless Association is a trade association representing rural wireless carriers who each serve fewer than 100,000 subscribers. RWA’s members have joined together to speed delivery of new, efficient and innovative telecommunications technologies to remote and underserved communities.
