The Rural Wireless Association has named Shilah Butler to its Board of Directors as a carrier member representative. Butler is Senior Manager of Affiliate Operations for Copper Valley Telecom, which provides residential and business telephone, long distance, wireless, and broadband services to Valdez and the Copper River Basin areas of Alaska.
RWA’s President and, CEO, Mike Kilgore, welcomed Butler to the RWA Board, stating “Shilah has long been a leader in the rural wireless industry, most recently serving as chair of RWA’s Education Committee. I look forward to working with her on the Board as we continue our efforts to ensure that consumers living and traveling in Rural America have robust voice and data services.”
“RWA members provide service in some of the most rural and remote places in the country – including Alaska where the terrain is quite challenging,” Butler said. “Wireless broadband deployment is essential to public safety communications and economic development in rural America. RWA’s advocacy to ensure that funding is available to serve these areas is vitally important during this critical time in our industry. I look forward to my continued work with RWA’s members and the Board.”
