Rural Pennsylvania Carrier NEP Wireless Plans To Deploy 4G LTE to Unserved Communities by April 2016
The Rural Telecommunications Group (RTG) is pleased to announce that of the dozens of successful winning bidders in the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Auction 901 for Mobility Fund Phase I support conducted in September of 2012, RTG member NEP Wireless is the first carrier in the country to successfully gain approval from the FCC to receive an initial disbursement of mobility funds. NEP Wireless successfully bid on seven Census Tracts in Auction 901 based on a commitment to build-out 4G LTE services in currently unserved portions of Wayne and Susquehanna Counties in rural northeast Pennsylvania. The FCC’s initial disbursement of Mobility Fund Phase I support is equal to one-third of NEP’s total winning bid amount of $6,179,238.90. In order to secure the initial disbursement of funds, NEP Wireless submitted detailed support as required by the FCC’s rules. NEP Wireless maneuvered through the FCC procedural requirements of Auction 901 with the help of the boutique communications law firm of Bennet & Bennet, PLLC.
