RTG’s Art Prest selected to serve on the FCC’s Emergency Response Interoperability Center Public Safety Advisory Committee

RTG’s Technology Advisor, Art Prest, has been informed by Chairman Genachowski of his appointment to serve on the Emergency Response Interoperability Center (ERIC) Public Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC) as a representative of RTG. ERIC’s mission is to establish a technical and operational framework that will ensure nationwide operability and interoperability in deployment and operation of the 700 MHz public safety broadband wireless network.

The PSAC is charged with providing recommendations to the FCC’s ERIC concerning the technical and operational requirements and procedures to ensure nationwide interoperability; requirements and procedures to address operability, roaming priority access, gateway functions and interfaces, and interconnectivity; and authentication and encryption requirements for common public safety broadband applications and network use. The PSAC will also make recommendations regarding coordination of ERIC’s policies with other entities, including other federal agencies, and in implementing such other policies for which ERIC may have responsibilities.
