Washington, D.C., – FCC Chairman Ajit Pai has appointed RWA General Counsel Carri Bennet to the Broadband Deployment Advisory Committee’s Streamlining Federal Siting Working Group. The Working Group will examine issues surrounding broadband siting and deployment on federal lands, an issue on which RWA has long been engaged on behalf of its members.
“Siting on federal land is time-intensive and costly, and can make the already difficult task of deploying broadband seem impossible – particularly for small and rural providers with limited resources,” said Bennet. “This working group should deliver common sense solutions that will improve carriers’ business case for deploying broadband on federal lands, and yield more connectivity for consumers in, and visitors to, rural America.”
In addition to serving as RWA’s General Counsel, Ms. Bennet is the Managing Principal of Bennet & Bennet, PLLC. Since 1987, she has represented primarily rural wireless carriers, rural telephone/broadband companies, and other small, start-up, non-profit, educational and entrepreneurial entities before the FCC, state regulatory agencies, the courts, and Congress. She has spent her entire career working with communications providers to bring communications services, including broadband, to rural communities. She is a nationally recognized expert on rural wireless and broadband issues and has been a key proponent for easing regulatory burdens that hinder small and rural entities.
